Biscuit decorating at Saffron Christmas fete
On Friday 9th of December we again took part in the Saffron Christmas fete at the Kingfisher Centre. We had a table and asked visitors to decorate biscuits. We had a lot of fun and here’s just a small selection of the photos from the evening:
“Something to look forward to” by Aphro McCullough
I love Christmas and all that goes with it. I love looking forward to, thinking about and planning for special occasions and I’m always ready for a celebration of some kind. Old Testament people looked forward to the coming of the Messiah; as Christians we believe that the Messiah came as a tiny baby 2,000 […]
Comment by Neil Tansley
For the supermarkets, the countdown to Christmas has long begun, and their shelves are already lined with festive food and trimmings in an effort to entice us in. I have sometimes been guilty of playing their game of trying to buy the best Christmas. Inevitably, when I have thought that way, Christmas has only succeeded […]
My Cup Overflows – Comment by Ann Kilbourne
I heard this preached a little while ago. In some Eastern countries it was the custom that when a visitor called you invite them in. If you would like them to stay a little while you offer them a drink. When the cup is half empty you refill it if you want them to visit […]
Betrayal – Comment by Terry Needham
Betrayal – definition: Not to be loyal to one’s country. To be disloyal to another person. Someone very dear and close to me has been betrayed. They have been married to one another and known each other for fifty years. They have had their ups and downs, but still he was betrayed and yes, he […]
When bad things happen, what next? – Comment by Roz Burch
Recently in the news we’ve heard of the attack on the club in Orlando and the murder of Jo Cox MP. Some of us will have had personal news that’s upset us or made us angry or frustrated or sad. So what do we do when this happens? How do we react in a way […]

You’ll recognise this as the first verse from the famous hymn*. It has been buzzing through my mind over recent weeks – particularly since Chantal spoke to us […]
May 2016 comment by Louise Warner
I wonder what comes into your head when May comes round. Is it the two bank holidays, with the long weekends that accompany them or the possibility of sunshine? I’ve been reading a book called Soul Keeping by John Ortberg which someone recommended and whilst I haven’t finished it I have been pondering a sentence […]
April Comment by Terry Needham
I’ve visited a few destinations abroad and if I get a chance I always visit a place of worship. Many of the churches or cathedrals won’t allow you in with bare shoulders or very short shorts and in a few you may even have to cover your head. Many religions have different clothing; Sikh men […]
March Comment by Roz Burch, Lay Reader
This year with Easter early so is Lent; I wonder sometimes what to do with Lent. For me fasting from stuff in Lent is rather negative, linked to “ought” or guilt. And I don’t believe that the Gospel, the Good News, is about making ourselves feel guilty because the good news is that Jesus came […]
