Mission for September 2012

The Edge

This is the first time we have included ‘The Edge’ as our ‘Mission of the Month’.  The PCC has decided to include it, to give us a focus on the Project, for both our prayers and our giving.  Our church is committed to give £3,600 to the project this year.  After three years of running as a project ‘The Edge’ is now fully integrated as part of our community.  It currently runs nine different youth work sessions per week engaging with more than 300 young people.  To be able to meet the demand for youth ministry in the local area, we now have a sessional youth worker Bex, and a student Tom, who will be with us over two Academic years.  Tom has been developing the school’s work, at the Academy, with a drop in, ‘Tea and Toast’ after-school session, and also a Christian Union meeting, called ‘Grace Academy’.  We are also part of a National network of Detached Youth Workers through Street Space, which is part of Frontier Youth Trust.  As we now have sessional workers, volunteers and a full-time student, Ali’s role has changed to include more management and supervision work, as well as engaging with the young people and developing spirituality with them.

Pray for:

• Ali as she leads the project

• Tom, Bex and all the volunteers, who help out each week

• the young people with whom they work.
