Peace and Goodwill in 2017 – Comment by Roz Burch

I wonder if you think of a new year’s promise with delight or a sinking feeling?

I enjoyed three very good holidays last year – and then in November had a terrible and sad shock.

Since then I’ve spotted a few silver linings in the clouds from time to time.  It seems to me that generally life is full of rain and sunshine, but sometimes we spot a rainbow’s beauty.

I am reminded of Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, where the writer says that there is a time for everything, and that God has decided and chosen this.  In verse 22 it says, “There is nothing else we can do.”  Meaning we need to accept God’s choosing and get on with life.

Jesus came to bring us life in its abundance so it is our job to work out and work at that abundance – so I encourage you to look into 2017 with a sense of anticipation, and seek out the abundant, overflowing goodness and generosity of God in Jesus for yourself and for those around you both near and far.

I hope that 2017 brings you peace and goodwill.

Roz
