A View from Outside – Vicar’s comment Feb 2016

A View from Outside

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13: 34-35.

We arrived at St Christopher’s in the summer having spent the past 18 years in a large Leicester church. We had felt God’s call to serve him somewhere new but had no idea where this would be.

In our first service here, we were warmly welcomed and found ourselves agreeing with the words of a hymn we sang – ‘All are welcome in this place.’ You may not realise it, but you have something very special at St Christopher’s – something that is not found everywhere.

As visitors at that time, we were impressed by the way you kept Jesus’ new commandment.

We have come to realise that you are indeed truly inclusive in your outlook and we pray that as we continue to settle into the life of the church, Jesus’ example will inspire and challenge us all to keep growing as his disciples.
