This is a warm invitation to attend the Garden of Life event on Sat 5th July 2014, from midday to 7pm, combining the official opening of Cathedral Gardens and the biennial Diocesan Assembly at St Martins House and the Cathedral in Leicester.
Marking the opening of the new Gardens, this Assembly will have a festive feel of celebration, with activities for all ages in three zones around the site. More details are provided on the flyer or visit the Garden of Life webpage.
The day begins at midday with the formal opening of the Gardens by the Bishop of Leicester, and through the day activities planned are as diverse as drumming workshops and Messy Church, Christian magicians and lego club, a climbing wall and interactive prayer spaces, music, dance, a large children’s choir singing Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and seminars on growth, Richard III and discipleship! Speakers will include Mark Russell, CEO of Church Army, Bishop Tim Stevens, Ali Barrett and comedians Paul Kerensa and Andy Kind. The day will culminate in a service of open air baptisms and confirmations at 5pm followed by a free BBQ.
As well as being for churchgoers, we would love to see those on the fringes of your churches or others you know coming along too, perhaps as the result of you making a personal invitation to a friend, neighbour or work colleague. Please feel free to invite others – the whole day is free and no booking is required. The official opening is midday but people are welcome to come for some or all of the day as suits. There will be various food-stalls selling snacks or you may prefer to bring your own refreshments. (You may wish to bring a fold up chair if you want to ensure a seat in the gardens at various points).
